Drawing Near to God

“No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught of God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.” – John 6:44-45

About This Web Site

Every person, without exception, is in need of a relationship with God. To ignore this need is to ignore the most important need you have, leaving an emptiness and void in your heart that cannot be replaced with material things, money, a career, or with anything else or anyone else. In fact, the intention of the Creator in creating us was so we would have a relationship with Him (Acts 17:24-28). Yet, for many people, no matter how hard they try, their search does not lead to God.

The goal of this web site is to assist people in their search for God and for His truth. The Scriptures teach that the Lord created humans so that "they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us" (Acts 17:24). We believe in that promise. If you are truly seeking God, you can find Him! We encourage you to explore this web site and consider the many important and eternal subjects that are worth your study as you seek and search for the truth.

There are no "short-cuts" in drawing near to God. We cannot go by our feelings or emotions alone and be confident that we have truly found the Lord. We cannot afford to listen to the opinions or teachings that come from men, only to be led to a false or phony god. To draw near to God, our faith must come from the evidences God provides and always be willing to be taught by God in His Word.

John 6:44-46 (NASB) 44 "No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 "It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught of God.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.

This web site is sponsored by the North Charlottesville church of Christ (www.cvillechurch.com) a non-denominational church that is not affiliated or associated with the "Church of Christ" denomination. We have chosen this name because it is biblical (Rom. 16:16) and because we seek to follow Christ in all things and honor His name.

The North Charlottesville church of Christ is a family of God that has dedicated herself to the worship of God and to actively work as a local congregation according to the teachings of Jesus our Lord and His apostles (Eph. 2:19-20). We seek to go back to the Bible for every practice and therefore to be only what people of the first century were; that is, "Christians only" (1 Pet. 4:16).

We desire worship that is both devout and in accordance to Scripture. Jesus taught that acceptable worship was to be done in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We are determined to emphasize a reverent and orderly worship that is designed to draw people closer to God and provide spiritual strength.

The Bible teaches that the gospel (Jesus Christ and Him crucified) is the power of God unto salvation and is God's sole drawing call to men (Rom. 1:16, John 12:32-33). Therefore, we seek to draw people to God by that means alone.

If you are interested to learn more about us please don't hesitate to contact us. Below are the times of our services and directions to the place we meet for worship.
